Show planned for Holt Renfrew
Sculptor listens to rocks before shaping them
By Frank Rasky

TORONTO ö Two things are remarkable about sculptor Andrea Marcus, who will exhibit 50 of her stone art pieces at a 3-week show opening April 25 on the 3rd floor of Holt Renfrew.

The first thing that strikes you about the Toronto artist is that sheâs such a tiny imp of a woman, just barely over 5 feet tall and looking as fragile as a Dresden doll.

Yet she claims sheâs as strong as a horse, and youâre forced to believe her.

Every day, looking like a masked welder in her Forest Hill garage, she arms herself with a huge air hammer plus drills, saws and rasps, and attacks a slab of alabaster, granite or marble that may weigh up to 3,500 pounds.
